The Artivition Projects is seeking qualified candidates to fill up to six (6) vacancies on its Governing Advisory Board and is launching an open call for expressions of interest from artists who live in Canada (the priorities will be given to the artist who resides outside of the major art centers such as Ontario, Quebec, and British Columbia). The Artivition Projects is committed to ensuring that its Board is inclusive and reflects the diversity of its membership and community in all art forms, as well as representing artists across geographical locations nationally.The Nominating and Governance Committee will meet in early May to recommend a slate of Board members for election at the 2025 Artivition Foundation, which is anticipated to be held on Jan 19, 2025.Serving as a member of the Board at this pivotal moment in Artivition Projects’ history, when it transitions into a national art and cultural service charity, offers an unparalleled opportunity to contribute to the continued evolution of an organization that has been the voice of Canadian art education for social impact.
As a Board Member, individuals will provide fiduciary oversight and strategic direction and will champion and advocate for the Artivition Projects (or Artivition Foundation when registered) and its mission.The ideal candidate will bring experience in governance, finance, human resources, and organizational development, as well as a lived understanding of Canada’s Educational philanthropic sector's diverse nature and the challenges and opportunities it faces.Most importantly, as a key member of a team of dedicated Board volunteers and professional staff committed to modernizing the Artivition‘s value proposition, candidates will bring their creativity, innovative ideas, and passion for museums and heritage institutions to help drive positive change.The Artivition community is strongly committed to removing barriers in hiring and board selection processes for geographically distanced art communities and artists in practice.
All artists who work or study in a Canadian art, design, or multidisciplinary research institute or professional school are eligible to apply for this volunteering position.
The Board role is an unpaid volunteer position. However, the Artivition Projects (Foundation when approved) will reimburse expenses incurred as a member (e.g., travel to Board meetings).
